The "Step Up for Life" workshops are part of the public health campaign whose goal is
to raise awareness about peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and critical limb
ischemia (CLI) being the cause of leg amputation.
The workshops are intended for all physicians who are a part of PAD treatment
(general practitioners, cardiologists, radiologists, vascular surgeons,
endocrinologists).
The goal of the workshop is to create a forum of local experts to discuss the latest
guidelines in PAD prevention and treatment with an emphasis on the neccessity of a
multidisciplinary approach to enable an advancement in the treatment of PAB.
The workshops will include topics such as cardiovascular risk assessment in PAD
patients, appropriate administration of statin and antihypertensive drugs and
discussion about the role of endovascular and surgical treatment of patients with
PAD and CLI.
Leading experts from corresponding fields will take part in round table discussions
and endevour to develop locally relevant action plans for treatment of PAD patients
so as to improve early PAD diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
